I used to think that makeup airbrushing was only for celebrities and rich people who could afford their own makeup artists. I always felt that you had to have it professionally done to get the best look. Then I tried it out for myself. Now I'm a believer, and I think you will be too. If you're thinking about trying out an airbrush starter kit, don't buy one until you read this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review.

So often makeup will look great in person but terrible in pictures. I can't tell you how many photos I have of myself with a washed-out face. I swear my makeup looked perfect in the mirror. The thing that I love most about wearing airbrushed makeup is that it looks killer both in person and in photographs.

I also love how long it lasts. You can forget about the endless touchups. With airbrushing, you put it on, and you're good for the day.

It's lightweight and breathable. You won't even feel like you're wearing any makeup.

Considering that, you would think that there's no way it could offer great coverage, right? But oh, how you'd be wrong! Honestly, it provides better coverage than any makeup I've ever worn. And it does it while still looking totally natural.

First Things First, What Is Airbrush Makeup?

Before we get to the Dinair Airbrush Makeup review, let's talk about what airbrush makeup is exactly.

Airbrush makeup uses a fine mist of foundation that you spray on your face with a small air compressor. Airbrushing gives the appearance of a flawless complexion. One of the things that we love about it is that it gives you a very natural look while minimizing your pores.

The Benefits of Using Airbrush Makeup

No Dinair Airbrush Makeup review would be complete without talking about the benefits of using airbrush makeup.

There are a lot of great reasons that you should try airbrushing. For one thing, as I just said, it gives you a flawless finish that looks amazing both in person and in photographs. Another thing that we love about it is that it gives you a very natural look.

Airbrushing is also lightweight. It gives you an invisible makeup look while still giving you full coverage.

And that's not all.

Airbrushing is also water-resistant. That means that it won't come off with sweat, tears, or humidity. That's huge! It also won't come off on your clothes or when you hug someone.

You can forget about redoing your makeup throughout the day too. Airbrushed makeup lasts all day.

Another great thing about it is that it's hypoallergenic and sanitary. You don't have to worry about the bacteria that you get with sponges and makeup brushes.

Airbrushing is ideal for all skin types, and if you apply it correctly, it will never look cakey.

How Is Airbrush Makeup Applied?

Okay, now let's talk for a minute in this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review about how you use this makeup.

You will apply your airbrush makeup using a stainless steel airbrush gun which is attached to a small air compressor with a hose. The airbrush gun has a needle-sized opening where your makeup sprays out. When you pull back on the gun's trigger, you release the makeup.

To load your gun, you drop airbrush makeup into a small cup located on top of the airbrush gun. When you turn the unit on, air will pump through the hose and push the makeup through the airbrush gun onto your skin in a fan-like mist.

You should hold the gun about six inches from your face while you use it.

Does it feel heavy?

No, it doesn't feel heavy at all. As a matter of fact, one of the things that we love about airbrush makeup is that it feels weightless when it's on your skin. Most people say that it feels like you're not wearing any makeup at all. This makes it an ideal option for people who don't usually like to wear makeup.

Can I Use My Regular Foundation in an Airbrush Gun?

In this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review, we are covering a lot of information, but one thing that you need to know is that you can't use your regular foundation with your airbrush gun.

Traditional liquid makeup is far too thick to work with an airbrush gun. So no, you can't use your regular foundation with an airbrush kit. All you will end up doing is clogging your gun and making a big mess.

They make airbrush makeup specifically for the airbrush gun. It is much thinner and looks more watery than regular foundation.

Is it Really Super Simple Cleanup?

Another thing that we can't forget to talk about in this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review is how to clean your airbrush gun.

The first thing you should know is that you should clean your gun immediately after use. If you let the makeup dry in the airbrush gun, it will be much more challenging to clean. Save yourself the aggravation and clean it when you're done using it.

To clean your Dinair gun, pour a little bit of water into the makeup cup and spray onto a washcloth or paper towel until it runs clear.

You should avoid using any kind of cleaning solutions that contain ammonia. Usually, you can use ammonia for any water-based paint. However, ammonia doesn't work well with brass or chrome. You will get an icky green substance built up inside of your airbrush if you use it, and the chrome plating on the outside will peel off.

If you forget to clean your airbrush gun and the makeup gets dried on it, you will likely clog up your gun. If that happens, disconnect the hose and soak your gun in a cup of very hot water for a few minutes. Then clean it as usual.

Our Review Process

This Dinair Airbrush Makeup review was an independent analysis of the Dinair system and three other top competitors. We have no business or financial ties to any of the manufacturers on our list. During the review process, we researched professional and consumer reviews. We also compared the features and price of each kit.

You need information you can trust, and we want to bring that to you, so we're on the same page.

The Dinair Airbrush Makeup Review

One of the things that we love about the Dinair kit is that it comes with a small, high-powered, easy to transport compressor so you can do your makeup anywhere. The compressor has a variable airflow feature. And the airbrush also comes with a handle grip that makes it very comfortable to hold in your hand.

One of the things that we found in this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review is that the Dinair products are all water-based.

Water-based makeup is the most popular type to use with airbrushes because it is thin enough to get through the needle on the gun. It creates a light mist of makeup that you can use to build coverage.

The water-based formula will create a matte finish. This makes it perfect if you're going to be in a setting with super bright lights like film, video, and wedding photography.

This type of makeup also makes a difference in the appearance of the texture of your skin. If you're looking for more of a dewy look, you might be better off with silicone-based airbrush makeup.

One thing to note is that you can't use airbrush makeup for spot treatment. You need to use it all over your face.

Ratings

What comes in the kit?

Pros

  • Creates a flawless look
  • Water-based makeup
  • The kit comes with everything you need to create a gorgeous face
  • The sleek design is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand
  • Comes with a wide variety of shades

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Airbrush gun can clog easily if you don't clean it immediately

The Competition

In this Dinair Airbrush Makeup review, we also took a look at three other top competitors to see how Dinair stacks up.

Tickled Pink Airbrush Kit

The first thing that we noticed is that the Tickled Pink Airbrush Kit is much smaller than the Dinair kit. It doesn't come with all of the bonus colors; it just comes with three shades of foundation. The Tickled Pink kit also comes with a small compressor with three adjustable air pressures, a single-action airbrush gun, and a black carrying case.

Like the Dinair makeup, the Tickled Pink makeup is water-based. Some of the Tickled Pink products are also aloe-based.

The Tickled Pink kit is much cheaper than the Dinair kit, but it also comes with less than half of the makeup. It also gets solid professional and consumer ratings. Amazon customers rate it 3.7 out of 5 stars.

Pros

  • Much cheaper than the Dinair kit
  • Comes with a two-year manufacturer's warranty and a lifetime warranty on the gun
  • The makeup is 89 percent organic and loaded with antioxidants

Cons

  • Only comes with three colors
  • Some people complained about the smell of the makeup
  • Others complained that the makeup looks cakey

The next kit that we looked at in our Dinair Airbrush Makeup review is by Aeroblend. The Aeroblend Airbrush Makeup Pro Starter Kit comes with a small, quiet air compressor, a dual-action airbrush gun, and 24 water-based makeup shades. The Aeroblend kit comes with four times the foundation colors as the Dinair kit so you will undoubtedly be able to mix and match your exact skin tone.

Another thing that we love about this makeup is that it contains no fragrance, paraben, synthetic pigments, or mineral oil. Aeroblend boasts that their makeup lasts at least 10 hours without getting darker throughout the day.

Our Dinair Airbrush Makeup review finds that the Aeroblend kit is just as good as the Dinair set, but it costs about half as much. And the professional and consumer reviews for Aeroblend are equal to those of Dinair. Most people love this kit. Amazon customers rate it 3.8 out of 5 stars.

Pros

  • Comes with a one-year warranty
  • Comes with a ton of colors
  • Great price

Cons

  • The Airbrush isn't as durable as some of the others
  • The airbrush gun clogs easily
  • Others complained that the makeup looks cakey

The final kit that we looked at in our Dinair Airbrush Makeup review is by Luminess. Luminess is another top-selling brand in the airbrush market. But it doesn't quite stand up to the Dinair makeup.

One downside about this kit is that it is much smaller than the Dinair kit or the Aeroblend kit. The Luminess system only comes with two foundation colors. Like the other kits, it also comes with an air compressor and an airbrush gun. This system doesn't come with many colors, but you can use it with other brands of airbrush makeup, as long as they are water-based.

The Luminess system is a bit cheaper than the Dinair kit, but considering it only comes with a few colors, we didn't find it as affordable. It also doesn't get as good of reviews. Amazon customers rate this starter kit at 3 out of 5 stars.

Pros

  • The system is well-built
  • It's easy to use once you practice a bit

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Only comes with two foundation shades
  • Doesn't offer great coverage
  • Some complained that the foundation colors weren't natural and contained too much pink

The Bottom Line

In our Dinair Airbrush Makeup review, we found that overall, it is high-quality and well worth the extra money. We also really loved the Aeroblend kit. You can't go wrong with either one of them if you're looking for a flawless complexion that won't rub or sweat off.

We also love that they both come with tons of colors. But we give the edge to the Aeroblend set because it is significantly cheaper than the Dinair set.

Both the Dinair and the Aeroblend guns can run into troubles with clogging. However, that's mostly due to people not cleaning them immediately after use. This problem is common with all airbrush guns. As we discussed earlier, you can save yourself a lot of frustration if you just clean it while it's still wet. All you have to do is run some water through it and then give the makeup cup a quick wipe with a Q-tip.
